Candy AI review: what you get, what it really costs and who should buy

What is Candy AI?

Candy AI is an AI girlfriend and companion platform run by EverAI Limited, a company registered in Malta. You pick a ready-made character or build your own, then chat with her, get images and voice messages, and see her in AI-generated video. The roster is split into Girls, Anime and Guys, so there is an AI boyfriend side too. Candy says it is “Trusted by 50 million people worldwide”; that is its marketing line, not a number we can verify.

There is nothing to install. Candy runs in the browser and, on a phone, becomes a web app when you tap Share and then Add to Home Screen. Candy’s FAQ points you there, not to an App Store or Google Play listing, so a “Candy AI app” offered anywhere else is unofficial. Everything is adults-only (18+), and Candy’s terms describe every exchange with an AI character as fiction, with no genuine emotions behind it.

How we reviewed Candy AI (and what we didn’t do)

A useful Candy AI review lets you check its homework. Ours rests on sources you can open yourself, plus arithmetic we show:

1. Candy’s own pages. Every plan, price and feature claim comes from Candy’s subscription page and payment step, Shorts library, creator pages and menus.
2. The fine print, from the source. Free-tier limits, renewals, refunds and token rules come from Candy’s Terms of Service (section 10 covers cancellation and refunds) and the policies listed at candy.ai/legal-information.
3. The free product, watched. We watched the free Shorts episodes, timed episode 1 from the official subtitles (38 seconds to about 2 minutes, 67 seconds on average) and logged episode counts, lock states and token prices for all 129 public series.
4. Math you can redo. Cost per token, break-even points and series costs are our own calculations from Candy’s prices, re-checked October 6, 2026.

What we didn’t do: keep months of Premium chat logs or grade the prose of AI replies. Reply quality is personal and shifts as models update, and 5 free messages let you judge it yourself. So our scores rate what Candy offers, what it charges and how fair its rules are. When only Candy can vouch for something, like its user count or its privacy standards, we write “Candy says”. Candy AI features: what each one does and costs

Candy bundles several products under one login. Here is what each does and where tokens come in.

Chat and voice calls

Chat is the core. Premium lists unlimited text messages, while a free account may send a maximum of 5 messages to AI characters: enough to see the interface and one character’s tone, little else. Voice comes in two forms: voice notes inside a chat, which spend tokens, and phone-style voice calls built on ElevenLabs voice technology. Our Candy AI chat guide goes deeper.

Image generator and character creator

Premium unlocks 18+ image generation and the “Create My AI Girlfriend” builder, where you set ethnicity, age range, eyes, hair style and color, body, personality, voice and hobbies. Each generated image draws on your token balance. Video generation and Live Actions

Premium also includes 18+ video generation and the full Live Actions experience, an interactive live-video mode Candy sells as “Play with her!”. You chat, request actions, and unlock new ones by leveling up with XP; “Blow A Kiss” opens at Level 2, for example. Video generation spends tokens, and because actions unlock through levels, the full menu isn’t open on day one. Our Live Actions guide explains the leveling.

Candy Shorts

Shorts is Candy’s library of vertical micro dramas: 140 series and 737 public episodes at our check, 259 of them free. Episode 1 plays without an account, episode 2 needs a free sign-up, and episode 3 onward costs 12 tokens (30 on creator series). Episodes run about one to two minutes, and new ones arrive every week. Creator twins and Candy Cams

Candy’s creator lineup lists 14 real creators with licensed AI twins you can chat with. Those chats carry a “Celebrity” badge and need Premium. Live cams are listed for Sophie Dee and Mia Malkova, with more marked “coming soon”. Our digital twins hub explains how the licensed AI versions work.

What Candy doesn’t publish

Some numbers aren’t on any public page, and we won’t guess them: per-image and per-video token prices, voice call costs, and details of the 11 “Spicy” Shorts series, which stay hidden until you sign up. Watch your token balance in week one to learn them.

How much does Candy AI cost? Plans, tokens and the free tier

Candy sells three main Premium plans. This is its subscription page as of October 2026:

Only the yearly plan makes the arithmetic comfortable. Its tokens work out to about $0.04 each (1,200 a year for $47.88), against about $0.14 on monthly renewal. Every plan auto-renews for the same price and term, and Candy lists the same Premium benefits on all of them. Here is what the same year of Premium costs by route:

How far 100 tokens go

Text chat is unlimited, so tokens pay for images, voice notes, video and Shorts episodes. A standard five-episode Shorts series costs 36 tokens to finish and a creator series 90, so one month’s allowance covers two standard series with 28 tokens spare, or one creator series with 10 spare. Heavy generating means topping up, which Candy allows anytime; we have no verified pack prices, so compare any pack with the yearly plan’s $0.04 per token. Tokens have no cash value, can’t be transferred, and expire at the end of the billing period after you cancel.

What stays free

A free account is a preview, not a product: 5 messages to AI characters, a limit written into Candy’s Terms of Service, plus the Shorts feed, where free is generous. You can watch the first two episodes of any public series before paying anything. None of Candy’s plans is a free trial of Premium. Safety, billing and refunds: the fine print

Candy is a registered business, not an anonymous site: EverAI Limited, Malta, company number C107181, with support at support@candymail.ai and a Help Center that Candy says runs 24/7. It takes Visa, MasterCard and crypto, and says charges appear under a neutral merchant name with no direct reference to Candy AI.

Canceling is easy; refunds are not. You cancel from Settings with Unsubscribe and keep Premium until the paid period ends. A refund outside the EU and UK needs a request within 24 hours of payment, is denied if more than 20 tokens were used, and applies to card payments only. Token packs follow the same 24-hour, card-only rule and must be unused. EU and UK buyers get a 14-day right of withdrawal from the initial purchase, by email to support@candymail.ai. That makes the yearly plan a decision for a clear head: once the first day passes, the $47.88 is committed.

Candy AI review scores: how good is Candy AI?

These are editorial scores out of 5: our judgment of what each part of Candy offers, what it costs and how fair its rules are, based on the sources above. Nobody paid for them.

So, is Candy AI good? For what it sets out to do, yes. Chat, images, video, live interaction, series and creator twins sit under one account, and the pricing is published and dated. It misses 4.5 because the free plan reveals little, tokens meter the best features and the refund window closes after a day.

It depends on how long you’ll stay:

Our pick for most buyers is the yearly plan, and Candy’s subscription page shows the live price. If you’d rather test first, the $9.99 first month is the cheap way in: switch off renewal in Settings the same day and it stays a one-off.

Who should skip it

• You want a lot of free chat: the free plan stops at 5 messages.
• You want a long refund window: outside the EU and UK it is 24 hours.
• You want a real relationship: Candy’s terms say AI characters have no genuine emotions.
• You want a native download: Candy is a browser and home-screen web app.

Verdict: is Candy AI worth it?

Candy’s strength is breadth at a low yearly price; its weak points (a tiny free tier, token metering, a one-day refund window) are at least published. If you can live with those, take the yearly plan, note the renewal date, and spend your 100 monthly tokens before each period ends. If you’re not sure yet, start with the free Shorts episodes and your 5 free messages. They cost nothing and show you the product before Candy ever sees a card.
