How does Candy AI chat work?

You choose a character, open the chat and type. That is the whole loop, and it feels close to a messaging app. What changes the experience is the character on the other end: each one has its own personality, and Candy describes the platform as an AI girlfriend and companion app with chat, pictures, voice and video. Candy also says it is trusted by 50 million people worldwide, a claim we can’t check.

Remember what the Terms say: every exchange with an AI character is fiction, and the characters have no genuine emotions. Candy’s memory claims, covered next, sit inside that frame.

Does Candy AI chat remember what you tell it?

Candy says it does, and memory is central to its pitch. Its own description of chat reads: “Built with advanced personality modeling and memory retention, CandyAI learns what you like, remembers what matters,” and it says its AI girlfriends “remember your stories, send you thoughtful messages, and even surprise you with custom photos or sweet voice notes.” Read plainly, that promises a consistent personality, recall of what you have shared and the occasional message or media you didn’t ask for. Photos and voice notes are the extras that spend tokens.

Those are Candy’s claims, and we can’t measure how deep or how long a companion’s memory runs. The test is cheap. Share a specific detail in your first session, such as a favorite place or a nickname, then ask about it a day later. If she brings it back, the claim holds for you. It also argues for sticking with one character you enjoy: a companion that is learning what you like has more to work with the longer you keep talking.

Candy AI girlfriend, anime and boyfriend: which category fits?

Candy sorts its characters into three categories. Girls is the AI girlfriend section, and it is what people mean when they search for a Candy AI girlfriend, a Candy AI GF or a Candy AI virtual girlfriend. Anime is where the Candy AI anime characters live, stylized for people who prefer that look. Guys is the AI boyfriend section, so a Candy AI boyfriend has a category of its own.

All three work as a text chatbot first, so which one suits you is mostly taste. We haven’t compared character quality between categories, so sample a few before you commit to one. Pick someone you genuinely enjoy talking to, because the chat is the part you will use most.

Is the Candy AI chatbot a girlfriend app you download?

Not in the usual sense. You use it in a browser, and people who search for a Candy AI girlfriend app are usually after the home-screen shortcut: Candy says Add to Home Screen gets you the app and notifications, with nothing to install. There is no official App Store or Google Play listing that we could find. Candy AI chat free vs Premium: the 5-message limit

This is the question behind most searches for Candy AI chat. Under Candy’s Terms of Service, a free user may send a maximum of 5 messages to AI characters. That is enough to judge the writing and tone, not enough for a real conversation.

Premium lifts the cap. Candy’s subscription page lists unlimited text messages, plus generating 18+ images and videos, creating your own AI girlfriend, the full Live Actions experience and 100 tokens a month. As of October 2026 the cheapest way in is the 12-month plan at $3.99 a month ($47.88 billed yearly); the 3-month plan is $8.99 a month and the first month is $9.99 before renewing at $13.99. One point that surprises people: unlimited text and tokens are separate things. Text messages are covered by Premium. Anything extra, such as voice notes or generated media, spends tokens from your monthly allowance.

Photos, voice and video inside the chat

Candy says its companions can chat, send images, send voice messages and appear in AI-generated videos. The principle for all of it is the same: each generation or voice note spends tokens from your monthly 100, and we don’t have verified per-item prices, so keep an eye on your balance as you go.

• Images. On creator chats, images stay blurred until you upgrade: Candy lists “remove image blur” among the Premium benefits there. Our Candy AI image generator guide covers how generation works.
• Voice. Voice notes spend tokens. Voice calls are phone-call style and use ElevenLabs voice technology, per Candy. We haven’t verified how calls are metered, so check before a long one.

Chatting with creator digital twins

Not every chat is with a fictional character. Candy Creators is a lineup of 14 licensed creators, each with an official AI version, called a digital twin. Those chats carry a “Celebrity” badge and show “Upgrade to Unlock” if you are on a free account. Candy’s paywall for them lists unlimited text messages with her, create AI video, create your own AI girls, remove image blur and 100 free tokens a month.

The twin is an AI, not the creator typing. Original Candy characters such as Veronica Parker, Mona Newman, Mila Nowak, Holly Donovan and Diana Demont are fictional people. How to get better Candy AI chats

• Spend the free messages on substance. With a 5-message cap, a bare “hi” burns one of your five. Open with a scene, a question or a clear tone.
• Set the roleplay yourself. Say who you are, where you are and what you want the conversation to feel like. The companion follows what you write.
• Ask open questions. “What would you do on a free weekend?” gives the character room to show its personality; yes-or-no questions don’t.
• Refer back to earlier details. Candy says its companions remember your stories, so mention what you shared before instead of re-explaining it.
• Steer, don’t fight. If a reply drifts, restate what you want in one sentence rather than repeating the same message.
• Watch your tokens. Voice notes and media draw from your monthly 100. Keep text for the long stretches and spend tokens on moments that matter.
• Build the personality you want. If no ready-made character matches, the character creator lets you choose personality, voice and hobbies yourself.

Is Candy AI chat private?

Here is what Candy states, and where we stop. Payments are accepted by Visa, MasterCard and crypto, transactions are encrypted, and charges appear under a neutral merchant name with no direct reference to Candy AI, per Candy’s FAQ. Candy also claims GDPR-compliant privacy standards. We can’t audit any of that, and we have not seen how long chat history is kept.
